MANAMA: ASRY, the leading ship and rig repair yard in the Arabian Gulf has been named the winner in the Corporate Social Responsibility category at the Seatrade Maritime Awards MEISA, which took place in Dubai on 31 October 2016. The yard’s annual calendar of over 40 community-benefitting events, facilities, and initiatives was considered region-leading for the previous year.

ASRY Chairman, Shaikh Daij bin Salman Al Khalifa, received the award on behalf of the yard, and commented on the victory, “This is a heart-warming win as it reflects the commitment ASRY has to benefitting the local and regional community. As such a large national employer, sustainability and integration for the betterment of the region and industry is vital.”

“We’re very honoured to receive this prestigious award,” added ASRY Acting Chief Executive Magdy Mustafa. “In the current challenging market conditions, ASRY is constantly trying to innovate new ways to re-enforce the yard’s responsibility to give back to the community and society of which it is an integral part. Being specifically selected over the other nominated yards in the region is an encouraging endorsement from the industry, and an inspiration to keep giving back wherever we can.”

The Seatrade Maritime Awards are designed to celebrate and reward excellence and innovation in the maritime sector across the region over the previous 12 months. Widely recognised as one of the region’s most prestigious industry awards, the events are attended by more than 750 maritime and shipping personalities and are regarded as one of the key networking occasions in the calendar.
